The Monroe County Health Care Foundation was incorporated in December of 1987 with a mission to encourage, accept and steward all public and private gifts, grants and contributions in support of the Monroe County Hospital. The object of this Foundation is to promote and strive for improvement and betterment of health-related facilities and services. The Foundation provides a source of funding for capital projects and community events that maintain and improve the health, wellness, and quality of life of the citizens of Monroe County and surrounding areas.

The vision of the Foundation is to provide the necessary resources to meet the ever-changing health care needs of all county residents. Give the hospital and community the needed foundation from which it can shape a viable future to provide quality care which meets or exceeds the patients expectations.

The MCHC Foundation has been very active for the past three years, conducting a capital campaign for the new additions to the hospital. This integrated a new Cancer Treatment Area, New Emergency Room, and Remodeled Patient Rooms. Other Foundation projects have included Diabetes Education Program, creation of Mammography Room at MCH, Cardiac Rehab Equipment (NuStep Machine, VR Bike, Treadmill), and Cardiac Monitoring System (Telemetry System with Monitor & Software).

Keeping a rural county hospital progressive and viable has never been an easy task. Growth at Monroe County Hospital has been supported by the generosity of area residents. They know the value of the high quality care at our rural county hospital and the benefit of having access to experts. The Monroe County Health Care Foundation is working to keep the spirit of giving alive.

Incorporated in December of 1987, the Foundation has taken gifts ranging from $1 to over $180,000 and is "Investing in the Health of Our Community" at the hospital through these donor dollars. Donors have designated gifts from patient care items, staff areas and landscaping projects. Families have memorialized loved ones and remembered those who have affected their life in one way or another. Memorial and Estate gifts have financed major remodeling projects. Each dollar is helping the MCHC Foundation 'Investing in the Health of Our Community" at the hospital.

The MCHC Foundation is governed by a 9-member Board of Directors who carry our the activities of the corporation. The most popular forms of gifts include cash, securities, personal property, and real estate. The MCHC Foundation also offers the opportunity for donors to restrict or endow their gifts.

Monroe County Health Care Foundation and Monroe County Hospital are in the process of constructing a donor recognition wall. This is a tribute of those individuals who share in the vision and mission of the Foundation. These individuals' generosity demonstrates a commitment to the tradition of compassionate care and the vision of tomorrow.
