The Monroe County Hospital & Clinics Radiology Department is staffed with Radiologic Technologists who provide services 24 hours/day, seven days/week. We offer diagnostic imaging services that include ultrasound, mammography, computerized radiography and a 32-slice CT (computerized tomography) scanner. We also have a state-of-the-art c-arm to assist our surgeons in the operating room. Monroe County Hospital & Clinics also provides mobile services that include MRI, ultrasound, echocardiography and nuclear medicine with SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) imaging. Our Medical Director is a Board Certified Radiologist with Radiology Associates, P.C. in Ottumwa, who interprets our images daily. Meet Our Radiologist
Akhtar Ashraf, MD, has been practicing radiology at Monroe County Hospital & Clinics since 1990. He consistently adds a personal touch for his patients by inviting them to see their images as he provides them step-by-step instructions about how their procedure will be performed. Dr. Ashraf’s passion lies in education. He started his medical career in an internal medicine residency in England, UK. He then completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Bridgeport Hospital, a major affiliate of Yale University, Bridgeport CT. He completed a Fellowship in CT and Ultrasound at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California and was then the Head of the Department of CT and Ultrasound at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. He also served as Director of the Ultrasonography School and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. Dr. Ashraf is also a Diplomate in American Board of Radiology. Office HoursOffice hours are 7:00am to 6:00pm 7 days a week, but the Radiology staff is available for emergencies after normal business hours and on weekends/holidays.
