The Rehabilitation Department at Monroe County Hospital & Clinics, in partnership with Rehab Visions, offers a comprehensive array of inpatient, outpatient, and home health services which includes physical therapy and occupational therapy. The team at MCHC has a combined 42 years of practice with a focus on providing a great patient care experience. The professional staff consisting of physical therapists, physical therapists assistants, occupational therapists, and certified occupational therapists assistants works closely with your medical provider to develop an individualized approach to treatment planning, with an emphasis on education, wellness and injury prevention. The Therapy Department uses a multi-disciplinary approach to provide treatment of many common complaints including back, neck and shoulder pain; hip, knee, ankle or foot pain; TMJ disorders, headaches, or facial pain; arm, wrist or hand problems; carpal tunnel syndrome; pain and dysfunction related to arthritis; balance impairments and vestibular impairments; post-surgical rehabilitation; athletic injuries; occupational health. Our physical therapists are licensed healthcare professionals who will perform a detailed evaluation and assessment of your health problem resulting from an injury or disease. Based upon this information and general health history, we will then develop a treatment program that will get you the highest level of function in the least amount of time. Generally, the patients we see need an ongoing strength or flexibility program in order to keep this condition under control. This will give you the tools to manage your health problem long after discharge from our services. The occupational therapy staff is highly skilled in treatment that focuses on helping people achieve independence in all areas of their lives. In addition to dealing with an individual’s physical well-being, our occupational therapists address psychological, social and environmental factors that may hinder an individual’s functioning in different ways. A wide variety of people can benefit from occupational therapy, including the following: work-related injuries, limitations following a stroke or heart attack, fractured bones or other injuries from falls, sports injuries or accidents, as well as arthritis, multiple sclerosis or other serious chronic conditions. The Rehabilitation Department is located in the front of the Monroe County Hospital, near the main entrance. Registering for therapy appointments is made simple by checking in directly to the Therapy Department. Appointments are scheduled Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:15am to 6:00pm and Wednesday and Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
