Job Description

Monroe County Hospital & Clinics is seeking a full-time Quick Care Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to join our Medical Clinic team. This position will provide Quick Care services and will not be considered a Primary Care Provider.

Primary duties for this position include:

  • Participates in activities of the Monroe County Hospital & Clinics including staff meetings, quality improvement activities, and committee meetings as appropriate.
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patient illness, injury, and chronic conditions within scope of practice.
  • Orders laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies or therapy as indicated. Assures proper follow up and documentation on all test and radiology results.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and care of wounds, removal of foreign bodies, ear and eye irrigation and other clinical procedures compatible with training, experience and scope of practice.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding physical and mental health on matters such as diet, disease, therapy and normal growth and development.
  • Coordinates hospital admissions with admitting or on-call physician.
  • Seeks consultation and advice of clinic physicians when appropriate.
  • Refers patients to appropriate specialty and subspecialty providers as indicated by the patient’s problems.
  • Implements immediate evaluation, treatment and institution of procedures essential to providing and appropriate response to emergency medical problems.
  • Follows established departmental and hospital policies, procedures and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Completes all documentation and medical record requirements as necessary in the usual care of patients in accordance with medical staff and clinic requirements.
  • Participates with a physician review of patient health records as needed.
  • Participates in the development, execution, and periodic review of the written policies governing the services the clinic furnishes.
  • Responds and cooperates with the medical staff, director of rural health clinics, the clinic medical director, and the chief executive officer.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ongoing compliance with MCHC educational and training requirements.
  • Adheres to the MCHC mission, vision, values, and Standards of Behavior.
  • Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
  • Promotes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers.
  • Actively participates in department huddles, in-services, meetings, and educational opportunities.
  • Follows all departmental policies and procedures and adheres to departmental budget.
Job Requirements
  • Current and unrestricted licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Iowa.
  • Completion of certification as a family nurse practitioner by an accredited Nurse Practitioner certification body (ANCC or AANP).
  • Unrestricted federal DEA and state drug certificates.
  • Mandatory Reporting and BLS certified or within 90 days of hire.
  • Possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide services appropriate to the practice setting.
  • Overall attention to detail, organizational ability, and ability to prioritize.
  • The ability to work in teams and communicate accurately and clearly.
  • Computer experience using Microsoft Office 2007 Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Proficient in English in order to communicate with patients, families, and other caregivers.
  • COVID vaccine required unless an approved exemption is received.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Previous experience as an Advanced Registered Family Nurse Practitioner.
