Job Description

Due to a retirement, Monroe County Hospital & Clinics is seeking a full-time Materials Management Manager to join our Materials Management team.

Primary duties for this position include:

  • Coordinates purchasing function by placing orders for other departments and stocking or delivering the items.
  • Hires, provides departmental orientation, gives positive and negative feedback regarding work performance, and evaluates materials management technicians.
  • Researches suppliers to determine the best price of a supply at an acceptable quality level.
  • Works with departmental supervisors to maintain an adequate, yet not excessive, level of stock.
  • Matches purchase orders to packing slips and give to accounts payable clerk.
  • Stocks cart and shelves from requisition slips, scanner, and restock sheets. Delivers stock to floor.
  • Maintains current policies and procedures for the Materials Management Department, reviewing them annually, and notifying staff of new, revised or deleted policies.
  • Creates new items in Cerner/Multiview.
  • Updates increase pricing from P.O. to Item Master.
  • Creates P.O. for all supplies received through Cerner/Multiview.
  • Provide monthly expense reports to all departments.
  • Works with CQI Department to identify, monitor, and improve quality in the Materials Management Department. Complete QI study at a minimum of one per year.
  • Rotates stock, using oldest first.
  • Labels and codes supplies for various departments.
  • Unloads supplies from delivery trucks, pick-up and sort mail and perform bank business as requested. Delivers packages and mail to departments and adds stock to inventory.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ongoing compliance with MCHC educational and training requirements.
  • Adheres to the MCHC mission, vision, values, and Standards of Behavior.
  • Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
  • Promotes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers.
  • Actively participates in department huddles, in-services, meetings, and educational opportunities.
  • Follows all departmental policies and procedures and adheres to departmental budget.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Mandatory Reporter certified or within 90 days of hire.
  • The ability to multi-task.
  • Overall attention to detail, organizational ability, and ability to prioritize.
  • The ability to work in teams and communicate accurately and clearly.
  • Computer experience using Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Proficient in English in order to communicate with co-workers, managers, patients, families, and other caregivers.
  • COVID vaccine required unless an approved exemption is received.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Associate Degree (or equivalent) in a business or financial field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a practical (preferably health care) work setting providing purchasing services.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
