100 Great Iowa Nurses
The Monroe County Hospital & Clinics is proud to announce Lori Vitko, ARNP has been chosen as one of 100 Great Nurses in Iowa 2013. Vitko is an advanced registered nurse practitioner and certified diabetes educator in the medical clinic at MCHC.
The 100 Great Iowa Nurses award recognizes nurses who have made a meaningful and lasting contribution to their profession and are viewed as a mentor to others. Greg Paris, CEO, added, “The entire Monroe County Hospital & Clinics’ family is very proud of Lori and collectively congratulates her on this award. Lori is very deserving because of the difference she makes to her patients and teammates every day, for the specialized care she gives our diabetic patients, and for the work she does in our community.”
Vitko will be among the 100 nurses honored at a reception at Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium – Grand Ballroom in Des Moines on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the ninth-annual celebration of Iowa’s Great Nurses. Vitko stated, “This was a surprise and an HONOR. I absolutely love what I do and I’m proud to be in the nursing profession for more than 26 years. I’m proud to work at Monroe County Hospital & Clinics with an amazing group of people.”
Nurses selected for the honor represent many sectors of health care, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and school and office nurses. The primary sponsors of the event are Des Moines Register, Mercy Health Network, the University of Iowa College of Nursing, Iowa Health System, and the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
