The Des Moines Register names Monroe County Hospital & Clinics a winner of the state of Iowa 2017 Top Workplaces Award

Monroe County Hospital & Clinics (MCHC) has been awarded a 2017 Top Workplaces honor by the Des Moines Register, second year in a row! Exclusively awarded based on anonymous employee feedback, this award reflects the value and engagement of the relationship among the MCHC employee team environment.

The “Top Workplaces” award is a national initiative to recognize employee-valued workplaces, based on the belief that the most successful organizations are the ones that employees believe in. Several aspects of the workplace culture were measured, including Alignment, Execution, and Connection, just to name a few. By championing good practices, Top Workplaces are not only better places to work but are also more likely to be successful than peer organizations.

“This designation is tremendously meaningful to us, showing how enthusiastic our team feels about the environment and culture here at MCHC,” said Veronica Fuhs, CEO of MCHC, “and it reflects upon the interactive and highly supportive nature of our employee community. This speaks volumes about how we work, what we do for our patients and the focus we have on high-quality, patient-focused care.”

Fuhs added, “The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest. And oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks and benefits, but to be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health. We are honored to serve Monroe County residents and surrounding communities. The patients and families at MCHC should feel confident that we have and will continue to recruit highly trained staff that provide quality, patient-centered care and are greatly satisfied with their work environment.”

All employee responses to the survey were kept anonymous in the award tabulation. Of note, current employees have shared these sentiments about the MCHC workplace: “The employees here are very passionate, which spreads to our patients and customers,” “Working at MCHC gives me a sense of accomplishment,” “This is a job where you can truly give back,” “I feel appreciated at MCHC.”

This award, plus several others recently received by team members at MCHC, signifies the overall change momentum and improvement culture within the organization. Mission-focused, MCHC has a commitment to its patients, it’s standard of operation, and the perpetual goal of overall high-quality care.
