Job Schedule
Full-time: 32 hours/week. Monday – Friday
Hours: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Includes the following rotations:
- Every 6th weekend
- Holiday
A shift differential is included with this position and equates to:
- $1.50/hour from 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
You must work at least four hours during this timeframe to qualify.
Job Description
Primary duties for this position include:
DIETARY TECHNICIAN
- Assists with general cleaning of the kitchen and cafeteria.
- Works cooperatively with other hospital staff to assure patient needs are met.
- Knowledge of principles of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point System (HACCP).
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to all OSHA and infection control policies.
- Meet requirements to obtain performance improvement processes.
- Satisfactory completion of on-the-job orientation and competency skills checklist.
- May be asked to work in the cook role.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ongoing compliance with MCHC educational and training requirements.
- Adheres to the MCHC mission, vision, values, and Standards of Behavior.
- Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
- Promotes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers.
- Actively participates in department huddles, in-services, meetings, and educational opportunities.
- Follows all departmental policies and procedures and adheres to departmental budget.
DIET/TRAY:
- Keeps track of patient roster, diets, snacks, diet changes, census board, and telephone systems for the departmental function.
- Daily menu for patients, setting up menu cards for meals.
- Distributes all patient information to personnel required for meals, likes and dislikes of food products.
- Preparation of nourishment & delivery of nourishments.
- Delivers food carts/tray service
- Portions desserts, salads, beverages for meals.
- Monitors each patient’s tray for proper diet and menu choice items are on tray.
- Helps Prep person and Cooks as requested.
- Cleaning Assignments.
PREP:
- Prepares salads and desserts for patients and cafeteria. Preparation of gelatins and puddings for clear and full liquid diets.
- Prepares salad bar & dessert line for the cafeteria. Serves meals in the cafeteria.
- Keeps track of patient roster, diets, snacks, diet changes & census boards, telephone systems for the departmental function.
- Daily menu for patients, setting up menu cards for meals.
- Distributes all patient information to personnel required for meals, likes and dislikes of food products.
- Delivers food carts.
- Portions desserts, salads, and beverages for meals.
- Monitors each patient’s tray for proper diet and menu choice items are on tray.
- Helps cooks as requested.
- Cleaning assignments.
FLOAT:
- Breakfast preparation in cafeteria. Stocking of supplies for patient use in cafeteria, nursing stations, same day surgery, dietary department, and all other areas as required.
- Cleaning and storage of dishes.
- Knowledge of OSHA/Safety Responsibilities.
- Knowledge of principles of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems (HACCP).
- Works cooperatively with other hospital staff to assure patient needs are.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Attend ServSafe within one year of hire.
- Mandatory reporting certified or within 90 days of hire.
- Overall attention to detail, organizational ability, and ability to prioritize.
- The ability to work in teams and communicate accurately and clearly.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Proficient in English in order to communicate with patients, families, and other caregivers.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Previous experience with food preparation, sanitation, and modified diets.
