Job Description
Primary duties for this position include:
- Serves as in-house medical staff credentialing specialist. Works closely with Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO) to process initial applications and reappointment paperwork. Maintains credentialing files containing confidential and privileged information to ensure all provider information is protected, accurate and current per regulatory guidelines.
- Completes payor enrollment for credentialed providers in Medicare, Medicaid, Wellmark and other payors as necessary for reimbursement of hospital services. Ensures provider enrollment lists for hospital and clinic are accurate and current.
- Serves as the Medical Staff Liaison by coordinating meetings, distributing meeting information and taking meeting minutes. Has working knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws. Attends meetings as required.
- Serves as the Board Liaison by distributing meeting information, taking meeting minutes and maintaining board certification records. Responsible for tracking trustee certification education requirements. Proficient in using board meeting software. Has working knowledge of Board of Trustees Bylaws and Iowa Open Record Law. Attends meetings as required.
- Develops agendas, takes minutes, and distributes information for Department Leader Meetings.
- Prepares and distributes monthly patient experience reports.
- Assists with updating/maintaining contract software.
- Assists with updating/maintaining policy and procedure software.
- Assists Director of Quality with clerical duties, data collection, and Performance Excellence (PEx) projects as needed.
- Provides support to CEO and Senior Team as requested.
- Sorts and distributes mail delivered to the hospital and clinic.
- Delivers deposits to the bank and conducts business at the post office upon request/as necessary.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ongoing compliance with MCHC educational and training requirements.
- Adheres to the MCHC mission, vision, and standards of behavior.
- Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
- Promotes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers.
- Actively participates in department huddles, in-services, meetings, and educational opportunities.
- Follows all departmental policies and procedures and adheres to departmental budget.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Mandatory Reporter certified or within 90 days of hire.
- Current Iowa Notary Public or completion of appointment within 90 days of hire.
- Overall attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
- The ability to work in teams and communicate accurately and clearly.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Proficient in English in order to communicate with patients, families, and other caregivers.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Office assistant or AA degree is beneficial.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with medical staff credentialing and/or provider enrollment.
