Thursday, September 25, 2025 – Monroe County Hospital & Clinics (MCHC) has been recognized as a Top Workplaces 2025 honoree by the Des Moines Register — marking the hospital’s 10th consecutive year receiving this honor.
The award is based entirely on employee feedback collected through a confidential survey administered by Energage LLC, an employee engagement technology partner. The survey measured several key aspects of workplace culture, including whether employees feel respected and supported, encouraged to grow, and empowered to succeed. More than 75% of MCHC employees completed the survey, contributing to this year’s recognition.

- Out of 149 organizations named to the list statewide, MCHC achieved several outstanding distinctions:
- As a mid-sized employer, MCHC ranked 5th out of 50 mid-sized organizations.
- MCHC received the top award in the Training category out of all 149 organizations, recognizing the hospital’s commitment to ensuring employees receive the formal training they need to grow their careers.
- This year marks MCHC’s 10th year in a row being named a Top Workplace — a rare and meaningful milestone.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”
MCHC credits this recognition to the dedication of its employees, who foster a culture of compassion, collaboration, and innovation in patient care.
“At Monroe County Hospital & Clinics, our people are at the heart of everything we do,” said Veronica Fuhs, MCHC CEO. “Earning this recognition for the 10th year in a row — and ranking among the very best in Iowa — is a reflection of our team’s unwavering commitment to excellence, teamwork, and living out our mission each day. I am incredibly proud of our staff and grateful for the positive culture they create together.”
MCHC’s mission, “We put people first,” serves as the foundation for everything the organization does — from patient care to employee experience — and is at the core of this decade-long achievement.
